Challenge
WFD is the UK public body dedicated to supporting democracy around the world - operating directly in over 40 countries, working with parliaments, political parties and civil society groups to help make countries’ political systems fairer and more inclusive, accountable and transparent. Redesigning their visual identity and branding.
Solution
Our work consisted of creating the visual guidelines and their application for maintaining a coherent brand identity across the board - including logos, colour palette, typography and the entire imagery & design system, from stationary to billboards, together with developing the foundation’s new website. Together with the foundation, we have also worked on a very special WFD project in 2020 - Pandemic Democracy Tracker. Pandemic Democracy Tracker is an interactive map tracing the ongoing political response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the countries where WFD operates. The map highlights four key categories of political consequences: Executive Response, Parliamentary Response, Socio-Economic Impact and Political Impact. The algorithm then scores each country for every category based on the actions taken, rating the democratic response on a scale of 0-8. There is also a separate "Overview" category that lists a country's entire set of actions as well as an overall score. The map is updated on a daily basis, as new developments intensify the pandemic’s impact on democracies around the globe.
