Adapting the buyer experience to drive e-commerce traffic Well-known for their high quality products and dedication to the planet, Nalgene’s in-store sales were consistently strong. However, their e-commerce revenue was flagging. They knew they needed a site that could contribute to their ambitious sales target of 50% over the prior year. Nalgene’s goals focused on generating a 50% increase in +1 products sold at checkout. They also wanted to facilitate an organic shopping experience by organizing product categories by activity and use. Finally, they wanted to optimize their UX experience with consistent, attractive visuals, a highly usable checkout flow, and improved mobile performance.

VISUAL DESIGN Creating a results-driven user journey When we began working with Nalgene, we were eager for the challenge to create a website and e-commerce experience that would support their goals and drive their direct to consumer sales. Our process began with extensive user research to make sure our design processes aligned with the desired outcomes of the project. This research helped us narrow down exactly what functionalities site users were looking for in their online experience. SURPASSING GOALS How Nalgene exploded their revenue goals Within two weeks of launching the new website, Nalgene had already left their original targets in the dust with an explosive surge of e-commerce revenue. Nalgene had the largest online sales day in two years during Cyber Monday 2020. With such an easy-to-use online experience, site users can browse through product categories based on activity, style, or even customizable features. This UX helped Nalgene develop a viable e-commerce strategy and makes them a leading competitor for direct-to-consumer sales in their market space.
