Educating prospective and current students about Saint Luke’s College

Challenge

Saint Luke’s College of Health Sciences wanted to update their Drupal website to a new WordPress site that would attract prospective nursing students, inform current students, and interest alumni — three different calls to action. Saint Luke’s wanted to use the website as a tool to increase brand awareness, enrollment, and new program offerings among the other colleges of health sciences in the Kansas City area. As an educational institution, it was also important that the new site was developed to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA and Section 508 accessibility standards and include Consumer Information no more than two clicks away from the home page.

Solution

Voltage designed and developed a new website that played into the fun blues and greens of the Saint Luke’s brand and played up the ribbon in the logo throughout the whole website. We wanted the website to match the colorful and vibrant exterior and interior of the College building in Westport. Knowing that the website needed to cater to the prospective students and families, current students and families, and alumni members, Voltage made sure there were sections within the site for each user. We included frequent calls to action along the page, in the top navigation and in the icons at the bottom of each page. Voltage created custom post types for testimonials, news, events, statistics, faculty bios, and even the Degree Requirements charts that could be used across the website.

Results

The new website sets Saint Luke’s apart from other nursing school competitors, provides information to future and current students, and encourages alumni to make a donation. For a very content-heavy website, the information is easily digested in visually appealing page sections. The new website is easy to navigate and conveys that the College is diverse, inclusive, and accessible. Plus, it is easy for Saint Luke’s internal marketing team to make content updates each semester without needing a developer. “The College’s web platform was difficult for our content editors to use.
