Marathon Power - Uninterruptible Power Supply Manufacturer
Challenge
When Shawn Dutton, President of Marathon Power, hired Not Maurice in 2007, his main goal was to expand his client based beyond California and become a recognized resource for the US market. In order to do so, he was aware that he needed to hone the Marathon Power marketing strategy to better engage clients in need of UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) products and custom UPS solutions in market segment like OEM, industrial automation and healthcare. In 2007, the marketing tools of Marathon Power consisted of a logo, website, company brochure and some product sheets. Indeed, a good beginning for a company in existence since 2003, but the visual identity was definitely lacking in personality and consistency. Furthermore, the website was a simple online brochure and was not generating leads. It was immediately obvious that those marketing tools had been poorly designed, and consequently could not create the level of trust necessary to acquire national accounts. In addition, there was no real marketing strategy to create and support the growth Marathon Power was looking for.
Solution
The Not Maurice strategy When we started working with Marathon Power, the first project consisted in restructuring, redesigning, expanding and optimizing the website in order to create a resource center for existing clients to easily access technical information such as user manuals, guides and warranty details. Further, the desired site would allow customers to share product news and trade show information, as well provide distributor and regional representative lists. More importantly, the site should generate leads through inbound marketing. Once the website project was complete, Shawn Dutton asked us to develop a campaign to better promote Marathon Power. We defined a laser point strategy and electric marketing plan and then started its implementation. First, we designed a corporate identity set including business cards, letterheads and envelopes. A professional and colorful four-page company brochure was next created to present the series of UPS products and solutions. Soon thereafter, we redesigned the collection of existing product sheets for each new product launch. Over the years, the website grew to accompany the addition of more new products and elaborate technical information. Not Maurice designed a trade show booth and developed e-mail marketing campaigns to invite Marathon Power clients and prospects to business events. Of course, many other advertising tools were used to generate the exceptional results they were looking for.
