Comprehensive media relations and awards campaign elevates travel agency’s recognition UNIGLOBE Travel Designers, founded in Columbus in 1981, became one of the first franchises in the United States for UNIGLOBE Travel International, a company based in Canada. The company had grown from a small business, with two agents, to a thriving company with employees. Elizabeth Blount McCormick, the president and co-owner had returned to Columbus and joined her mother, Elsie, in running the company. UNIGLOBE Travel Designers had a desire to increase the company’s exposure and position the company president as a visible business and industry leader through. The company turned to GREENCREST for assistance with this campaign.
Solution
GREENCREST implemented a comprehensive media relations and awards campaign to generate press opportunities for UNIGLOBE Travel Designers. The outreach focused primarily on local media, but also extended to national media. In addition, GREENCREST developed an aggressive association outreach and awards plan to raise the client’s profile in the business community.
Results
The campaign resulted in more than 40 placements in local and national news outlets over a 20-month period. The client was featured in several stories in The Columbus Dispatch, Columbus CEO, Columbus Business First, Smart Business Columbus, WCMH WSYX and WOSU radio as well in major outlets, including The Washington Post, USA Today, The Seattle Times, Huffington Post, Black Enterprise, Essence Magazine, Journal Pravda and Frommers.com. The work netted the client several high-profile awards, elevating both the owner’s and the company’s recognition in the community.
