Calgary Foundation
Challenge
Through strategic partnerships and generous funders, the Calgary Foundation works to nurture a healthy, vibrant, giving and caring Calgary. With deep roots in the local community, initiatives focus on poverty reduction, pursuing a sustainable future, strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities, living a creative life and encouraging mental health. With so much great work going on in so many unique pockets of the city, the challenge for us was how to best tell that story.
Solution
We started with the redesign of their core website, creating a hub for all things Calgary Foundation. The new site is fully responsive, aligned with the Calgary Foundation culture and relevant to what’s happening in the city. From there, we jumped into the Vital Signs project – designing a microsite dedicated to sharing perceptions of Calgarians in regard to living standards, community connections, arts, environment and wellness. The site is dynamic by design because we wanted to create a space for people to discover information about their city, not just read it. Next came the Community Knowledge Centre – a digital space dedicated to charitable organizations working with the Calgary Foundation – and the Jane’s Walk website, a space designed for Calgarians to lead and join community walks inspired by Jane Jacobs.
Results
With an enhanced online presence, the Calgary Foundation reached twice as many Calgarians in 2017 as in previous years. The new site works to share the Calgary Foundation story, while also providing a home for initiatives Vital Signs, Community Knowledge Centre and Jane’s Walk.
