Challenge

To keep Destination Kohler top-of-mind by reinforcing its preeminence among American golf resorts and status as the first-mover in Wisconsin’s flourishing golf market. The golf travel landscape has changed considerably since Destination Kohler opened its Blackwolf Run facility in 1988. Whereas it was once the “only game in town,” its four-course portfolio now faced increasing competition for golfers’ mindshare locally, regionally and nationally. Also, there was a need to elevate awareness of the Straits course’s three sister layouts.

Solution

INSIGHT Known worldwide as home of the Straits course at Whistling Straits, a three-time PGA Championship venue and host of the 2020 Ryder Cup, Destination Kohler features three additional Pete Dye-designed golf courses (the Irish at Whistling Straits and the River and Meadow Valleys at Blackwolf Run), as well as the Forbes Five-Star American Club Resort. ACTIVATION Buffalo designed and implemented a plan to tell Destination Kohler's "golf and more" story to coveted audiences through earned media placements. Our team's expertise in the golf course rankings realm was also relied upon.

In 2018, its first year as a Buffalo partner, Destination Kohler registered record golf revenue.
