Mischief Maker
Challenge
Our client approached us with an idea that he wanted to build an application for bikers where they could collaborate with others on their bike runs. He wanted to create such a platform which not only attracts riders but also the customers e.g. restaurants and pubs which find this to be a capable platform for their marketing. The client was very excited to incorporate the Poker hand and its ranking feature. It is the core functionality of the platform for gamification which makes bike runs fun and challenging. Therefore, he wanted an application where users can do a Poker run while enjoying the Biker events by visiting pubs, restaurants and avail deals on their way.
Solution
A solution was developed as an Android and iOS mobile application to band together all bike riders at one event. Our team designed a journey in which a user was able to join an event, scan QR codes at different locations and complete their run. At the end of the event, the backend server will calculate the poker hands of the checked-in users and announce results according to ranks. An advert module for the restaurants/pubs was added for marketing. Our backend and iOS developers researched different platforms and were able to extract algorithms from which every card was matched with Poker rules and further associated it with each hand e.g. One Pair, Royal Flush etc., which was implemented in PHP. As the algorithm was complex, various test cases and scenarios were written and tested to ensure quality output. AppIskey faced a number of challenges while developing this application: Generate Poker Hands from random cards that are unlocked by users of the app Incorporating complex algorithms for sorting the highest hand to the lowest across many users for checking which user has the best hand Generating a wild card by re-calculating the user hand along with the aggregate ranking with the users’ pool.
Results
The market had a very productive feedback on the product. Client and the Appiskey team invested a lot of time and was successfully able to grow the user base from 10 users per event to 100 users. People started knowing about the product and the customers were willing to onboard. We continued to work on the product while it was still live in the market. The users were very surprised to see that each application update had an improvement based on their feedback and this in turn had them feel a personal connection with the platform. The Client was able to organize various awareness events and bring onboard multiple customers.
