Challenge

Frederik, Harald, and Andreas are extreme sports fans from Norway who decided to create Avidyx – an Airbnb-like marketplace where people can find and book extreme sports activities. Suppliers on Avidyx include independent entrepreneurs, organizations, and large sports complexes that can promote their services, offer activities, and directly communicate with customers. UGEM needed to design this marketplace from scratch to connect customers with hundreds of extreme activities suppliers all around Norway.

Solution

Design objectives When Frederik, Harald, and Andreas contacted our team, we defined the scope of work, projects’ timeline, and the most vital design objectives to be met. For this project, we needed to: Create a design that will translate brand voice and main values to the visitors Allow service providers to easily register and manage offered activities, bookings, and payments via intuitive UX design Create a sleek design for a data-rich supplier dashboard to let providers manage activities and bookings smoothly Design an easy to use communication channel to let users clarify any information regarding activities and bookings User flows We create user flows to figure out how real people will use your app from the time they open it to the time they exit. User flows help us determine the content and functionality that must be on a page. Our aim is to align user flows with users’ specific goals. Wireframes Wireframes and prototypes visualize a user’s interactions with an interface. This stage helps us review design solutions with project stakeholders, test them before implementation, and quickly make necessary amendments. Library of components Creating a library of components allows us to speed up development, maintain visual consistency, and successfully scale a product without any design discrepancies. Design solutions To reach the objectives of the project, the UGEM team came up with the following design solutions: Appealing main page Since Avidyx is all about movement, energy, and drive to create the appropriate atmosphere, we placed a parachuter video on the first screen. We also needed to tell about Norway as much as possible through the design elements on the main page. That’s why we used photos of the local nature as covers for the main categories of activities – Earth, Water, Snow, and Air. Simple activity flow for suppliers On the one hand, activities created by suppliers have to be detailed. But on the other hand, suppliers have to be able to create activities quickly and easily. By dividing activity creation into six steps, we simplified the interface, allowing suppliers to skip unnecessary steps, return to previous steps, and see their progress. Supplier dashboard We designed an easy to navigate supplier dashboard so that suppliers can manage information about activities, clients, and orders. The dashboard also allows suppliers to manage their team members, track client activities, and customize offers to meet client requests. Convenient chat Instead of implementing messages in a separate block, we decided to integrate messages into activities. This means customers can access recently viewed or currently viewed activities and start chatting with a supplier. We made sure to notify suppliers about new messages so they can reply to customers as quickly as possible.

Results

For a totally new marketplace Avidyx, the UGEM team designed a sleek and handy interface and a convenient user experience to attract new suppliers and buyers. As a result, we created a user-friendly platform that serves personalized activities and unique destinations for adventure lovers.
