Challenge

While the GPS Team were experts in industrial electricity, it was becoming increasingly clear to Phil, CEO that they needed the help of a dedicated IT specialist. Directors were spending hours on IT issues instead of making strategic decisions to empower growth. There were too many different software programs in use, risking data loss. Some of the 30-strong GPS Electrical employee team were sending emails via personal email addresses, leading to a lack of consistency, unsafe file sharing and unprofessional client communications. The team was dealing with slow internet speed, and a legacy phone system was tying them down, leading to missed calls, messages, outside hours service calls and potential jobs. They were also using different credit cards for purchasing supplies, making accounting processing a nightmare. Telco ICT Group set their sights on empowering GPS Electrical through secure, scalable technology. If their goals for growth were going to become reality, a trusted system, strategy and approach was paramount. To help scale their business, GPS Electrical needed a server-based environment to house Rockwell Automation software for issuing quotes. Telco ICT Group took to the task, allowing a streamlined approach for bringing in new business. With the help of Telco ICT, every desk, laptop and employee was equipped with the Microsoft 365 suite of programs including Project and Visio, alongside SharePoint, a robust sharing system for files. At a time when hybrid working took the world by storm, this change made updating documents between the GPS Electrical office and employee’s homes secure and effortless. An iPECS Ericsson-LG phone system was installed, a dream to use in comparison to the previous system. A windows server was implemented with 2019 for the business software, intune and multi-factor authentication. Telco ICT’s friendly team helped GPS Electrical establish email policies and group policies. Finally, Internet speed was supercharged with 200M/200M fibre, business NBN and 4G for business continuity. This range of improvements empowered GPS Electrical with a roadmap to scale efficiently and grow their team to more than 150 employees – what a result! With GPS Electrical firmly focused on growth and IT efficiencies for the future, Telco ICT Group then assisted with the exciting move to new office space to serve their growing employee and client base.
