Challenge

When DEW was ready to refresh their brand, they didn’t want to veer too far from their roots. The logo’s triangular icon had meaning, but it was looking too dated to compete well in a modernizing market. We worked closely with DEW to create an attractive solution that blends the old with the new, to reflect a new level of sophistication while holding true to what matters most.

Solution

Guiding messaging with values DEW was ready for a deeper understanding of their market position and a revitalized brand. After an extended discovery process, we developed a new foundation that included a comprehensive messaging strategy. The results of this work included a revised name, along with a new tagline, positioning statement, key messages, and brand voice. Our focus centered on their core principles: Communication, People, Process, Safety, Accountability, and Partnerships. PHOTOGRAPHY Building a photo library Though DEW had plenty of images of beautiful building projects, they hadn’t yet showcased the unique qualities of their people — their most important asset. So how to begin? We started by identifying areas where photos were needed, then went to work on building photoshoot plans, coordinating details of models, schedules, wardrobes, and props, and directing shots on site. The result is a stunning library of authentic photos showcasing both office and field staff. WEB DESIGN A modern new website design As the second largest construction firm in Vermont, DEW needed a complete overhaul of its website to stay competitive in the Vermont marketplace. As part of a comprehensive rebranding process, we developed the new site to reflect its bold new positioning. Core values are at the heart of the site’s messaging, while high-quality work dominates its pages. All new thinking was instituted for messaging, site navigation, and content. BRANDING Taking the brand on the road Redesigning an existing corporate logo means taking a lot of things into consideration — including the infrastructure that must be updated with the refreshed brand. From stationery to building signage, launching a new logo can involve a host of new production costs. For DEW, we recommended cost-effective changes to their fleet of Toyota trucks that could be implemented quickly using simple one-color vinyl graphics. DESIGN Environmental graphics that inspire Once we established the DEW brand and launched its new website, it was time to bring the brand inside. We worked closely with DEW to assist in the design and production of a series of graphic installations throughout its main headquarters in Williston, Vermont. This internal branding not only impresses visitors to DEW, but also helps to inspire the people who work there everyday.
