Challenge
The Scan Design story is an agency’s dream, and the American dream: Two young Danes move to the U.S. in 1969 and open a contemporary furniture store in Winter Park, FL. They actually live in the showroom with their kids for a short time and raise them around great design. They buck traditional furniture trends and bring Scandinavian design values to a starved Florida market. Fifty years later, the kids run the business, they have 10 showrooms, 100+ employees, and one hell of a history. Our job? Properly commemorate this amazing achievement and tell the story all year long.
Solution
We dug deep into Knudsen family archives, conducted interviews, and collected every nugget of information we could and condensed it into a golden anniversary campaign that was equal parts current branding and fun nostalgia. We used the SD50 signature gold motif and creative in direct mail, product promo, social storytelling, video, email, digital, in-store point-of-purchase, and outdoor throughout 2019.
