CASL Compliance
Challenge
Enercare was being audited by the CRTC for their telemarketing practices as they used telemarketing as a key part of their marketing efforts. With the recent changes in email (electronic messaging) laws (CASL), they wanted to ensure their internal practices and policies met with the standards set by the new law.
Solution
Enercare contracted Newport Thomson to work with their marketing and data teams to review their current practices and generate a Gap Report, complete with a list of prioritized projects that would bring them into compliance over a reasonable period of time. Some projects were handled by internal Enercare staff while Newport Thomson was further engaged to execute most of the more difficult compliance related projects.
Results
Enercare significantly reduced their risk of being fined under CASL. We wrote a new Electronic Messaging Policies and Procedures Manual and trained staff accordingly. All training was recorded so new staff and re-training could be carried out without contracting Newport Thomson again.
