Challenge

Phil Kollin, a Louisville Certified Tourism Ambassador and long-time tour guide on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®, came to us with a thumb drive of candid snapshots, some glowing testimonials, and a desire to get the word out about his unique whisky events. Phil came to us in the heat of COVID. He needed quick turnaround on a minisite to support his marketing efforts and increase bookings for whiskey tastings, cocktail classes, whiskey trivia nights, and more.

Solution

User Interface Design (UI) Since Phil didn’t have a developed logo or brand, our design team put together a very whiskey-esque color palette and font set, then dreamed up an animated ‘Phil Talks Whiskey’ SVG to mirror his exuberant personality. The tone is immediately set with the aforementioned animation and an image of whiskey being poured. The body of the page is centered around demonstrating the unique experience Phil offers in his tours and all the good things his clients have to say. It also illustrates Phil’s extensive knowledge as a true whiskey sommelier. Web Development Our team is UX-centric, so we strive to keep pages light, fast, and informative. To keep Phil’s page streamlined, we chose the native Gutenberg WordPress editor. Gutenberg offers plug-and-play content blocks in a page builder-like environment to make adding and editing content a breeze. Its simplicity allowed us to drop in basic content and let the stylesheet do all the heavy lifting of design. And, what would a web page be without a call to action? The team added a form that invites visitors to inquire about booking a tour with Phil. We also provided links for his social media platforms and phone number.
