Challenge

Qoreboard is a PMaaS℠ tool (Performance Management as a Service) that helps companies boost their employee performance by offering data-driven, performance-based insights and motivational messages. For employees, the tool takes the stress away from dealing with huge tasks by applying Microgoals℠ – achievable hourly and daily activities. Managers, in turn, are supported in coaching their team members as the tool supplies them with data on employee performance and helps in shaping individualized coaching programs. The Client wanted to outsource UX, design, and development of the new application dashboards. They approached Neoteric asking to transform the employees’ and managers’ dashboards by making them more user-friendly, intuitive and cutting-edge in terms of its design. Our team was also tasked with the front-end development which involved introducing UX and UI changes. The Client approached us with three challenges. 1. Making the product more user-friendly The initial product was difficult to get to grasp with for first-time users. Users could not understand how to use the product. As a result, it led to low product adoption and higher churn among new users. 2. Low usage of new features End users failed at understanding and utilizing new features, because of their complexity. In addition, the lack of proper in-app onboarding resulted in low feature usage. 3. The product lacked the intuitiveness necessary for users to achieve their goals The product did not account for the way users wanted to interact with it. User paths within the application were not designed in accordance with users’ feedback and thus were not intuitive enough to navigate and achieve goals within the dashboard.

Solution

Front-End Rebuilding the front-end part of the two dashboards – for employees and for supervisors as well as implementing a new design. UI Design Creating the design for the two dashboards to be later implemented by front-end developers. UX Design Examining the current version of the application and extracting insights for its further optimization, creating a product wireframe and a prototype. 1. Discovering end-user's needs A team of UX designs started with a thorough examination of the current product version using surveys, interviews, and usability testing to later follow with the analysis of the research outcome. 2. Spotting areas for improvement Working closely with the Qoreboard team, our UX designers identified the least and most frequently used features, built user persona profiles and created scenarios presenting the ways users interact with the tool. The Neoteric team identified the features for optimization aiming to help end-users perceive more value in the product. 3. Working over wireframes & a prototype Our design team prepared wireframes, a low fidelity product version, presenting the Client with the most crucial information on the product interactiveness. After creating wireframes the team worked out a high fidelity version of the new product – a prototype, that included UI design along with UX. 4. Implementing design Our team of front-end developers used React tech stack to implement the design and the UX project. Using Typescript language (a superset of Javascript) our developers rewrote some parts of the product. They used Apollo GraphQL, a platform for building a data graph, a communication layer, connecting the application to the back-end services. 5. Quality assurance The team ran product tests during every sprint – using automated and manual tests to ensure the quality and stability of features. The regular tests helped identify bugs and remove them fast. Technology we used Axios Library Graph QL React Typescript

Results

Creating intuitive and user-friendly dashboards We have identified ways users want to interact with the product and defined areas for improvement. This, in turn, helped us create more user-friendly and intuitive dashboards for employees and managers. Infusing cutting-edge design Graphic designers worked closely with the Client to prepare the design concept for the application dashboards that would reflect the latest trends. Conclusion Neoteric’s team of designers have provided the Client with cutting-edge design for the app that increased usability and intuitiveness of the product. Front-end developers built the code for both platforms conducting weekly demos with the Client. The work finished with passing over the code to the Client’s backend team to be later introduced in the product. The Client is planning to continue working with our team in the future.
