Challenge

April 2018 marked the fifth annual Global Insurance Symposium. The event brought hundreds of insurance professionals, regulators, and other industry leaders from across the globe to Des Moines to hear from world-renowned speakers on topics impacting the insurance industry. Knowing this event was high-profile, the Iowa Insurance Division, Greater Des Moines Partnership, Global Insurance Accelerator, Iowa Economic Development Authority, Iowa Insurance Institute, and the Federation of Iowa Insurers turned to LS2group to plan and execute the three-day conference.

Solution

The symposium brought more than 650 insurance industry leaders, regulators, start-ups, and industry vendors from 20 countries to downtown Des Moines. LS2group worked with a volunteer committee to plan and execute all aspects of the event, including speaker management, venue location, catering, hospitality, public relations and marketing, budget management, registration and attendee coordination, fundraising and sponsor management, and onsite event logistics. In the months leading up to the event, LS2group coordinated all public relations efforts, including distributing and pitching press releases, managing interview requests, and working with speakers on guest opinion pieces to be pitched to industry publications. LS2group also developed a heavy digital media campaign to ensure digital ads reached targeted demographics. In addition to public relations and marketing, LS2group managed the registration platform and designed all marketing collateral, including digital ads, printed programs, signage, menus, and other promotional items. In order to effectively showcase the transformation of the industry, LS2group also designed a new logo and website for the 2018 Global Insurance Symposium that focused on the innovative nature of insurance and the event.

Results

Attendees of the 2018 Global Insurance Symposium provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, with 100 percent of survey respondents indicating they would likely attend the event again and recommend the symposium to a colleague. The Iowa Insurance Division also thanked LS2group on twitter.
