Improve User Experience

Challenge

Dietitians of Canada (DC) is a national professional association that represents dietitians. DC has a diverse membership of over 5,000 dietitians nationwide. The association supports its members through advocacy, professional development and engagement and works to promote nutrition, health and foster growth in the industry. The mandate of the association is to advance the health of Canadians through food and nutrition. Objective DC needed a robust membership website to support its members and provide relevant information to the Canadian public. The focus of this project was to redesign the website to elevate the DC brand and consolidate various web properties for a seamless online experience for users. In addition, the new site required SalesForce integration as part of DC’s broader digital strategy. Challenges The new DC membership website needed to seamlessly integrate with SalesForce for members pages, downloads, registration and payment. The new website also needed to display memberships and unlock member community pages depending on membership type and journal access. In addition to the SalesForce integration, we redefined the information architecture for a better user experience. Information for members was mixed in with public information, making the content confusing and redundant.

Solution

Scope of Work: Digital Strategy Web Design Services Association Solutions Support & Maintenance Our Approach Re-working the site navigation was a priority for this site. We spent a lot of time prototyping and wireframing the navigation, exploring a variety of options to ensure an intuitive experience for users coming to the website. We designed high fidelity wireframes to ensure that the structure of the website is as fleshed out as much as possible before entering the design stage. The information architecture was restructured to consolidate content. Based on the project objectives, we were able to categorize content in a way that supported DC’s digital strategy and provided the foundation for user experience design. To accomplish the Single Sign-on needs of the project, we implemented a custom membership sync. The sync creates new SalesForce accounts as Kentico users and saves all SalesForce specific details that will allow a member’s account to authenticate and display member specific information. The sync is also initiated by user login to make sure the website is updated with any changes that have been made through the either environment. The website provides a membership dashboard for members to access member pages tailored to their assigned roles. It also allows all members access to members only content such as webinars, recorded lectures and documents. Project Details Built with Kentico Xperience EMS. Kentico was chosen for the new DC membership website because it provided an integration solution with their existing set up, allowed for the ability to expand into different microsites and made content editing easy and efficient.
