Creating a Welcoming
Challenge
Campus Services at Kennesaw State University manages all aspects of campus life, specifically university campus housing. KSU started building residential communities in 2008 and now provides housing on campus for 5,200 students. Experiencing such a huge increase in both student housing and enrollment, KSU partnered with id8 to develop a unique brand experience that engaged both students and visitors on campus tours.
Solution
Our goal in developing a new brand strategy focused on boosting school spirit and KSU pride with students and faculty, while also fostering a unique visitor connection to the university during campus tours. id8 created a larger than life brand experience that welcomed visitors and invited prospective students to feel at home during their tour. Using a mix of massive signage combined with more personal wayfinding, id8 was able to establish a sense of unity across the campus, that unified the North side of the KSU Campus where 2,200 students live, through the University Village, University Village Suites, and KSU Place. The brand experience included huge graphics stretching over 100 glass panes, vinyl covering two 40-foot tall brick walls, branding highlighting the two-story lobby of University Village Suites, and signage welcoming students at the entrances and exits of the campus housing community.
Results
The new brand experience gives visitors opportunities to take pictures along their tour, creating an instant connection to the KSU community. The wayfinding signage provides clear direction to all students, allowing for easy navigation of a large campus.
