Challenge

Since their start in 1982, Chuy’s Tex-mex restaurant has gone from Austin staple to national phenomenon. With over 80 locations across the United States, Chuy’s Tex-mex has been successful in cornering the market on good food with an attitude, but was in need of a new website to match that personality.

Solution

HELPING FAMILIES GATHER. Moving Chuy's away from Flash, we developed a responsive website built on ExpressionEngine. Using HTML5, we decreased their site load time and gave the Chuy’s marketing team new SEO opportunities via their new high-performing website. 64 percent of Chuy's web traffic is mobile, so we crafted their website to be responsive for a new generation of mobile shoppers, giving them the means to reach a much larger audience. CHUY’S, WHEREVER YOU GO. We also created an HTML5-based location chooser which would automatically load a site visitors nearest Chuy’s location via the user's IP address, giving them quick access to the local menu and contact info. EARTH TO THE CLOUD. No longer limited to the physical restaurant, the new website gave Chuy's the ability to sell merchandise through their online store.

Results

Chuy’s traffic rose by 57 percent, built to handle upwards of 12 thousand daily sessions. Site load speed was slow, so we were able to decrease load time to an agile 2.56 seconds, faster than 60 percent of all average web speeds in the United States. 57% Traffic spike since launch. 2.56s Agile page load time. 8,104 Avg. daily sessions post-launch.
